Technical Build

Once the site is looking good, it’s our job to knit together functionality to create interactions. We then seamlessly integrate it with back-office and other systems, so everything runs in sync.

Version controlled development

To protect the codebase, and allow for back-up and restoration, version control is used. This can also be used to develop different aspects of the site functionality at the same time with multiple developers; and to allow the staged release of different versions of the site, once the functionality has been tested and accepted.

Testing integration and back-office functionality

Once a development stage has been completed, it is unit-tested and acceptance-tested to ensure that it behaves as defined in the functional specification. Additionally, any integration with third-party applications, for example a back-office tool like a store checker is tested to ensure it is working as expected and defined. Once each of the units has been developed and tested individually, they are tested together, to ensure that they interact and work correctly as a whole, and that the overall functionality of the site works as expected and defined.

Tested solution functionality

This is a task carried out when each of the units are defined, produced and tested. This stage tests that each of the different units of functionality interact and work correctly together; in effect checking the overall functionality of a site after each of the elements have been tested individually.
